The American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) South Central Chapter hosted the annual Wine and Design event this past April and one of my favorite things about this night is the fashion show.
But this isn't any typical fashion show. This is a fashion show in which 4 ASID members (2 manufacturer's representatives and 2 designers - professional or student) are challenged to design artistically inspired garments made from commonly used interior design materials - ie. tile, carpet, laminate. The rules were that at least 40% of each interior material is used in the garment and that the main color of the garment was selected from a handful of Pittsburgh Paint's forecasted interior colors for 2012! It's brilliant!
This year, there were 14 teams and this wonderful event benefited Our House, which is a local organization offering shelter and aid for the working homeless.
This is when you truly see the creativity of these talented designers come out. It's a fun night and below are the evenings' winning designs.
