My Latest Obsession...The Wedge

Those of you who know me realize that I'm not the tallest person in the world, but I sure can fake it...especially when I don my 6" heels with a 2" platform! ;) So, needless to say, I love a sexy wedge!  Not only is the wedge shoe a much more comfortable and stable approach to the four inch heel, but they are super hot right now!  I have been "researching" and "testing" some of my favorite wedges and am sharing my favorites below!  Enjoy!

Here are a few that I have "tested" (aka purchased!)

I'm obsessed with snakeskin right now...and the Dekoda wedge from B Brian Atwood is one of my favorite snakeskin accessories. I found mine locally at Barbara Jean

These wedges by Sabine take me from 5' 5" to 6' 0" in .5 seconds! Obviously they are in heavy rotation for my going-out-for-drinks-with-the-girls attire! Purchased at Piperlime

I found these cute Juicy Couture Miriam platform wedges in NYC last week and I LOVE the nautical look!

Here are a few that I am still "researching" (aka thinking of purchasing!)

These sexy little Valentino wedges come in three different colors and look amazing on!

Color blocking, leather, wood, nail heads, sexy rear cut outs....Bottega Veneta hit the nail on the head (hee hee!) with these Contrast-wedge sandals!

Watersnake and leather wooden wedges by Lanvin....I love these shoes!

Rupert Sanderson makes a fabulous wedge and these color block wedges with gros grain trim would be a cool option for when I'm feeling a little funky!

There is nothing I can say bad about these amazing little BCBG Max Azria Laura metallic wedges!

"Yes" to this Dress Pt. 2

I recently posted part one of this blog series Yes to this Dress, which featured some amazing gowns and flirty frocks introduced in New York for Fall Ready to Wear 2012.  I am sad to say that this will probably be one of my last posts that feature RTW 2012 clothing because I have exhausted my notes on my favorite collections and I am sure you guys are ready to move on to some more amazing fashion sources!

I will end this wonderful journey with a few dresses from two of my favorite lines.  The first is Monique Lhuillier, who I also featured on my last Yes post.  Below are some more of my top listed gowns - love the sheer cut-outs, the leather belts, and the fab volcanic-inspired gown!  By the way, yes, I am still looking for the perfect red lipstick to go with these dresses...

The next designer that I am featuring is the brilliant Jenny Packham.  Typically her collections are filled with more sweet than sultry; however, this season Packham took a different approach to the red carpet - designing dresses with flowing fabrics, sexy deep v-necks and one shoulder cuts.  Call me Kate Middleton (one of Packham's top clients), but I can't get enough of this designer! Below are some of my favorites...

Fashion Meets Function Friday!

It's another installment of Fashion meets Function and I am very excited about this one.  As you know from my recent post, I visited Crystal Bridges Museum a few months ago and in their gift shop found this amazing little fellow!

This extremely unique clutch is not only the perfect size and shape, it is also made from a most unusual material, Redwood. However, it does not stop there - the beautiful grain of this wood is accented with gold or silver inlay.  The metallic accents dress this clutch up enough to wear it with a cute little frock...perhaps my bronze sequin shift dress and my new snakeskin Brian Atwood wedges with gold chain detail... ;)

Alas, these beauties were all sold out by the time I called to request more information.  So, it's a mystery….unless any of you readers know?

The fabulous grain, color, and detail of this clutch remind me of so many things that I love about interior design and it especially reminds me of this fabulous wood grain wallpaper and fabric by Maya Romanoff:

I love using different and unusual patterns and materials in unexpected ways.  The patterned wallpaper and wooden clutch is a perfect example of just that.

Happy Friday!

The New Glass Tile

In the fashion world, many would say that this year, orange is the new black.  I have to agree!  It's a hot color right now and I am seeing it everywhere!

Because I specialize in kitchens and baths...my "little black dress" is backsplash tile.  I work with it on a day to day basis and I have seen so many trends come and go.  One trend that is hot right now is glass tile.  It's not only beautiful, but easy to clean and maintain.

I must say, that I have specified many a glass tile and have enjoyed every minute of it!  I am sure there will be many more kitchens and baths with glass tile in my future.  However, there is something that has been catching my eye lately - wood and leather tile!  I am loving everything about both of these materials and love the fact that they are now being used more in the least expected areas such as kitchens and baths.  Below are some of my favorites...

"Brick Wood" by Porcelanosa

Walker Zanger "Sobu" Bamboo tile which comes in three different finishes

Mesquite wooden tiles from Ann Sacks..very cool option for a backsplash tile or an entire wall

This Ann Sacks leather tile, Piel, is one of my favorites. I love how it wraps the entire bathroom in this photo.

Walker Zanger's Wood Age Collection, a porcelain tile that looks like wood planks

Walker Zanger's Matouche Collection, another porcelain with the texture of exotic leathers without the maintenance :)
